The Sixth Annual Girl's Day at St. Bonaventure University, to be held Saturday, November 3rd, will feature five hands-on workshops to introduce middle school aged girls to current software used by information technology professionals. This year's workshops introduce digital scrapbooking, AOL Instant Messenger, Alice, robot simulation, and social software such as podcasting, blogging, and wikis. Girl's Day is designed to encourage middle school girls to study computer science and pursue careers in information technology. The workshops are presented by St. Bonaventure computer science alumni currently working in the field as well as by current computer science students at St. Bonaventure.
Girls interested in attending the one day workshop may obtain the application form on line or through their school. Permission of a parent or guardian and a recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor are required.
The workshop runs from 8:45 am through 3:00 pm. A breakfast snack and luunch are provided. There is no cost to participants.
